Keeping in view the needs of the people of Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, the wise leaders of this area formed the Guru Nanak Academic Council towards late 60s. The main purpose of this council was to celebrate 500th years birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and impart higher education to the people of Kandi (semi hilly area), economically weaker, backward and rural area. Then this council was named ‘Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College Society, Garhshankar’.

The foundation stone of B.A.M. Khalsa College was laid by Sant Baba Fateh Singh on 19 -02-1969. College is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and also supported by Punjab Government and by the UGC. Apart from academic facilities, the college is also diligent to provide sports, cultural and literary activities. The establishment of the name of this college ‘Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College’ is a tribute in the memory of the great Freedom Fighters of Babbar Akali wave. The Mini Parliament of Sikhs SGPC, Amritsar took over the reins of this institution on 22-07-1982. BAMKC runs collegiate school +1 and +2 science, commerce and arts which is affiliated to P.S.E.B. Mohali and college with streams of Arts, Commerce, Science, Computer Science and four years integrated courses of B.A-B.Ed and B.Sc-B.Ed. It also runs Post Graduation Programmes in M.Com, M.Sc (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) M.A. History and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application. BAMKC Garhshankar is one of the best professional and educational institutes of Northern India imparting education to more than 1005 students. The college follows a unique set of dictates that are based on traditional learning, primarily focusing on improving the learning habits of all the students.

It is a great pleasure and proud moment for me to join Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, as a new principal. Our institution, under the esteemed leadership of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has a rich legacy of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and community service. I am honored to be part of this distinguished Sikh institution.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of SGPC, and S. Sukhminder Singh, Secretary Education, for entrusting me with this significant responsibility. Their visionary leadership continues to inspire and guide us in our mission to provide holistic education rooted in the values of Sikhism.
