About College

Keeping in view the needs of the people of Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, the wise leaders of this area formed the Guru Nanak Academic Council towards late 60s. The main purpose of this council was to celebrate 500th years birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and impart higher education to the people of Kandi (semi hilly area), economically weaker, backward and rural area. Then this council was named ‘Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College Society, Garhshankar’.

The foundation stone of B.A.M. Khalsa College was laid by Sant Baba Fateh Singh on 19 -02-1969. Apart from academic facilities, the college is also diligent to provide sports, cultural and literary activities. The establishment of the name of this college ‘Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College’ is a tribute in the memory of the great Freedom Fighters of Babbar Akali wave. The Mini Parliament of Sikhs SGPC, Amritsar took over the reins of this institution on 22-07-1982. BAMKC runs collegiate school +1 and +2 science, commerce and arts which is affiliated to P.S.E.B. Principal’s Message

I deem it my privilege to serve as Principal of Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garshankar built in the memory of great warriors Babbar Akalis and being run under the able management of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib, and the supreme institution of Sikhs. It presents before me a unique opportunity and a challenge to meet the aspirations and expectations of all those who are stakeholders in the functioning of this institution. Change is the way of nature. Twentieth century alone witnessed unprecedented change in every sphere of human existence, making life much more complex than ever before. The first two decades of this century have again radically changed the world which has thrown up many new challenges. Education is the only way to enable us to measure up to all challenges and to keep pace with the times. Today, education must be both job-oriented as well as knowledge-centred. The education policy should ideally aim at making the new generations capable of reaching new horizons. The entire faculty and staff members of our institution are always ready and keen to attain this objective. We believe education can be a true service to mankind if imparted with integrity and sincerity. This objective can be fulfilled only if teachers and students work together with missionary spirit. With true hope and genuine belief, backed by our past experience, I wish all the students of the college a very bright future.
