Procedures and policies for maintaining and utilizing physical, academic and support facilities – laboratory, library, sports complex, computers, classrooms etc.

The college ensures optimal allocation and utilization of the available financial resources for maintenance and upkeep of different facilities by holding meetings of various committees constituted for this purpose.

Facilities Utilization Policy:

Purpose of the Policy

 The physical and academic facility policy would provide the basis for equitable allocation and efficient utilization of facility based on the critical needs of educational and administrative activities.

The policy would help to:

Ø  Establish procedures for the use of physical and academic facilities.

Ø  Properly schedule different activities without any hindrance.

Ø  Increase the degree of communication and coordination among different users and caretakers.

Scope of the policy

This policy is intended to cover the following types of facilities in the College:

v  Academic and administrative Offices

v  Classrooms

v  Gymnasium and sports facility

v  Laboratories

v  Library

v  Computers

Academic and Administrative Office:

Office space is allocated to administrative staff, heads of various departments, librarian, physical education coaches as available, in a manner that best advances College priorities. Office to each department is allocated by the principal of the college.

Classroom assignment and utilization:

The classroom schedule and assignment of the classrooms is decided by the time-table committee. The scheduling and utilization policy consists of a process of distributing classrooms for use in the upcoming semester. The time table is designed by the time-table committee so that the available classrooms are used optimally.

Sports: The maintenance of volley-ball, basket-ball and football grounds is done in consultation with the coaches and physical education teachers.

Laboratory: Record of maintenance account is maintained by Lab technician and supervised by the HODs of concerned departments. Other measures to maintain laboratories are as follows:

The calibration, repairing and maintenance of sophisticated equipment are done by the technicians.

The microscope used for biological experiments are annually maintained by the concerned department and supervised by the HOD of that department.

There is a systematic disposal of waste of all types such as bio-degradable chemical and other waste.

Library: The requirement and list of books is taken from the concerned department and HODs are involved in the process. The principal approves the list as he has the final say. Every year in the beginning of the session, the students are motivated to register themselves in the library to use INFLIBNET. Suggestion box is installed in the library so that the feedback of the users can be taken. Their continuous feedback helps a lot in introducing new ideas regarding Library enrichment. To ensure return of books, no dues slip issued from the library is mandatory for students before appearing in examination. Raddi committee weeds out old magazines and old newspapers and disposes them off.

Computers: Computer Maintenance is done by technicians called from time to time for repair of the computers. It is done in consultation with the department of Computer Science.

For the maintenance and upkeep of the infrastructure at the departmental level, HODs submit their requirements to the principal for the classrooms, equipment, furniture etc.
