Duration of the program: Two Academic Years

Each year shall be divided into two semesters. The examination for the first and the third semesters shall ordinarily be held in the month of December and for the second and the fourth semesters in the month of April/May, or on such dates as may be fixed by the Syndicate.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

M.A.HISTORY  

A person who has passed one of the following examination from Panjab University  or an examination recognized by the syndicate as equivalent there to, shall be eligible to join the M.A. degree course;

  • A Bachelor’s degree obtaining at least 45% marks in the subject of postgraduate course or 50% marks in the aggregate.
  • B.A. with Honours in the subject of Postgraduate course or BSc. Honours School course.
  • Master’s degree examination in any other subject.

M.Sc. MATHEMATICS

A person who has passed one of the following examination from the Panjab University or an Examination recognized by Syndicate as equivalent, shall be eligible to join the M.Sc. Mathematics degree course

  • A Bachelor’s degree obtaining at least 45% marks in the subject (Mathematics), or 50% marks in the aggregate   Or
  • B.A. /B.Sc. with Honours in Mathematics of the Panjab University or from any other University recognised by the syndicate as equivalent there to.

M.Sc. PHYSICS

A person who has passed one of the following examination from the Panjab University or an Examination recognized by Syndicate as equivalent, shall be eligible to join the M.Sc. Physics degree course

  • A Bachelor’s degree obtaining at least 45% marks in the subject (Physics), or 50% Marks in the aggregate.        Or
  • B.A. /B.Sc. with Honours in Physics of the Panjab University or from any other University recognized by the syndicate as equivalent there to. 

M.Sc. CHEMISTRY

A person who has passed one of the following examination from the Panjab University or an Examination recognised by Syndicate as equivalent, shall be eligible to join the M.Sc. Chemistry degree course.

  • A Bachelor’s degree obtaining at least 45% marks in the subject(Chemistry), or 50% Marks in the aggregate                 Or
  • B.A. /B.Sc. with Honours in chemistry of the Panjab University or from any other University recognised by the syndicate as equivalent there to.

M.Com   

The minimum qualification for admission to the first semester of the course shall be:–

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration with not less than 45% marks in the aggregate;           
  • B.Com. (Hons.) Degree with not less than 45% marks in the aggregate;  OR
  • A graduate with Honours in Economics or Mathematics or Statistics OR Commerce with not less than 45% marks in the aggregate   ;OR
  • A graduate with 50% marks in the aggregate having offered either Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or Commerce as a subject in the examination :

Provided that in case of candidates having Bachelor’s degree of the University through Modern Indian Languages [Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi (Gurmukhi Script)] and/or in a Classical Language (Sanskrit/Persian/Arabic) or degree of any other University obtained in the same manner recognized by the Syndicate; 50% marks in the  aggregate shall be calculated by taking into account full percentage of marks in all the papers in Language excluding the additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together; OR

  • An associate of the (i) Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Or England Or(ii)Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India Or England; OR
  • A pass in the final examination conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India; OR
  • Any other qualification recognized by the Syndicate for this purpose.
